Frances Sunwall

Frances Sunwall, 97 of Fergus Falls, Minnesota died Sunday, March 25, 2018, at the Broen Home.

Frances Henrietta Sunwall was born on April 28, 1920, in Hanley Falls, Minnesota the daughter of William and Della (Forbord) Haverly. She attended Country School in Meeker County, graduated from Litchfield High School in 1938, and then one year at LBI in Minneapolis. After her schooling she worked as Registrar for LB Schools in Fergus Falls.

Frances and Lief Sunwall were married on October 1, 1949 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. They lived on the Sunwall family farm in Montana for almost 50 years. She was involved with Froid Mission Chapel and Bethel Free Lutheran Church in Culbertson where she taught Sunday School and had been President of WMF. She was involved in 4-H. She enjoyed spending time with people, was interested in their lives and was a good listener and encourager. Frances and Lief were known for their generous hospitality, inviting many to their home for coffee, Bible study, a meal or overnight stay. Frances enjoyed sewing and ceramics, she loved collecting, had beautiful plants and flowers, was a great cook who took good care of her family and they were very important to her.

She is survived by four children, Dennis (Cyndi) of Baldwin Place, New York, Greg (Julie) of Froid, Montana, Dwight (Lana) of Castle Rock, Colorado and Barb (Bob) Anderson of Roseau, Minnesota; grandchildren, Jason (Danielle), Aaron and Tami Sunwall, Summer (Josh) Martins, Eric (Nikki) and Kari Sunwall, Leigh Sunwall, Emily (Travis) Vandoren, Anna (Mark) Bjornrud and Katie Anderson; great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Kara and Aubrey Sunwall, Damien Martins, Brian Sunwall, Brody Sunwall, Lars, Liv and Annie Vandoren, Evelyn, Anderson and Lewis Bjornrud; sister, Verna Mae Brue of Fergus Falls; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Frances was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lief Sunwall on March November 7, 2010; brother, Paul Haverly; and sisters, Ione Bergstad, Marjorie Gudim and Lois Engebretson.

Memorial Service: 1:00 PM, Saturday, May 5, 2018, at Light and Life Chapel in the Broen Home in Fergus Falls with visitation one hour prior to the service.
