Sharon A. Berger, 79, of Fergus Falls, died on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at the Broen Home in Fergus Falls.
Sharon Ann was born on May 18, 1941, in Fergus Falls, MN, the daughter of Vernon and Thelma (Nelson)Peterson. She was baptized and confirmed at Grace United Methodist Church in Fergus Falls. Sharon graduated from Fergus Falls High School, before enrolling at Moorhead State University where she received her Teachers Certificate. Sharon taught for a few years, before moving to Fargo, ND and working at a floral shop.
In 1977, she married Thomas Berger and they made their home in Fergus Falls. Sharon worked at the State Hospital in Fergus Falls as an HST and later worked at Lutheran Social Service where she worked with the mentally and physically handicapped. Sharon worked her last years at Woolworth’s in Fergus Falls until her retirement.
Sharon enjoyed gardening and cooking. She was very involved with family and cherished the yearly family reunions. Sharon took the family on weekend trips later in life on a special RV trip to California, touring the San Diego Zoo and Sea World.
She is survived by her son, Rodney Berger of Fergus Falls; two grandchildren, Michael Berger of Wahpeton and Haley Berger of Fergus Falls; a great grandchild, Axel Berger and three nieces, Diane Iverson, Denise (Tim) Hatchner and Danette (Travis) Engelhart. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Thelma; husband, Thomas Berger and sister, Darlene Leabo.
No services are being held until a later date.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home of Fergus Falls.
