Pearl Pollock

Pearl Pollock, 91 of Battle Lake, Minnesota and formerly of Ryder and Minot, North Dakota died Saturday, May 16, 2015 at the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center.

Pearl Adeline Dockter Pollock was born on October 30, 1923 in Parshall, North Dakota the daughter of John and Adele (Burchardt) Dockter. She was baptized at the Congregational Church in Parshall and attended Country School a short distance from their farm. At thirteen years old, during harvest she helped run a cook car for threshing crews and then Pearl worked as a waitress in the Ferdeen Hotel in Ryder, ND.

Pearl and Harold Pollock were married on October 7, 1940 in Sidney, Montana. Upon her marriage to Harold they lived one year in Minot, ND where she again worked as a waitress. They moved to a farm by Ryder, ND where they did general farming, raising both livestock and grain. Pearl was very involved in their farming operation, milking many cows and helped with all aspects of the farming. She branched out on her own and raised hatching eggs for Magic City Hatchery in Minot. She was a true homemaker, her first love was baking and cooking and was known for being a great cook, her specialties being lefsa and homemade pie. She loved to sew making all her daughters clothes as they were growing up, enjoyed crocheting and her later hobby was making porcelain dolls. She was an avid reader and loved a good laugh and a good story. Pearl belonged to the Stitch and Chatter Club, Elks Lodge and the Moose Lodge. She attended the Church of God in Ryder, then the First Assembly of God Church in Minot. In 1972, Pearl and Harold started traveling back and forth to Apache Junction, Arizona. They farmed until 1984, when they retired and moved to Minot and continued going to Apache Junction until 1998. In September of 2006, Pearl moved to Battle Lake, MN entering the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center, then on July 1, 2007, she moved into the newly opened Lakeview Senior Living in Battle Lake, until returning to the Good Samaritan Center on August 5, 2011.

She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Larson of Atlanta, Ga. and Joyce Lovgren of Battle Lake; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren, Todd (RaNae) Officer, of Park Rapids, Jeff Larson and special friend, Carrie Bush of Minot and Steven Larson and fiancée, Jackie Best of Minot; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Grace Officer; Don Larson of Minot; and by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Pearl was preceded in death by her husband Harold; son-in-law, Dave Lovgren; three sisters, infant Darlene Dockter, Betty Dockter and Mildred "Bubbles" Hanselman; and by four brothers, Argie, Raymond, Norman "Bud" and Leland Dockter.

A Memorial Service will be 2:00 pm Sunday, June 7, 2015 at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Battle Lake.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in the Old German Baptist Cemetery of rural Minot, N.D.
