Lois Knutson, 83 of Ashby died Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at the Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls.
Lois Amelia Knutson was born on November 26, 1927 in Eagle Lake Township, rural Ashby, Minnesota the daughter of Helmer and Lillie (Wedin) Torgrimson. She grew up on the family farm and was baptized and confirmed in the Grue Lutheran Church. Lois attended Country School District #114 in Eagle Lake Township, and continued her education at the Ashby High School.
Lois and Joseph Knutson were married on September 21, 1951. After their marriage they lived in Ashby where she was employed with the Pelican Lake Nursing Home for twenty-five years, she then owned the Ashby Restaurant for a short time. Lois was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church and was a lifetime member of the Ashby Legion Auxiliary holding membership for fifty-five years. She enjoyed bird watching, coffee with her friends and loved spending time with her family. Lois was a people person who always saw the best in everyone, and at the "drop of a hat" she would happily chauffeur her friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and Betty said "was the best mother-in-law ever".
She is survived by one daughter, Bonita (Jim) Evavold of Ashby; two sons, Michael (Betty) Knutson of Rochester and Perry Knutson of Ashby; one son-in-law, Mark (Marcia) Koefod of Ashby; nine grandchildren, Pam (Gary) Ruter, Randy (Tammy) Koefod, Craig (Carol) Koefod, Jennifer (Jon) Combs, Jeff (Missy) Evavold, Jeremy (Jill) Evavold, Karissa (Jason) Krause, Rachel Knutson and Erik Knutson; sixteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Donna Knutson of Fergus Falls; sister-in-law, Hazel Torgrimson of Ashby; Joyce Sundblad-Torgrimson of Alexandria and by numerous relatives and friends. Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph on November 19, 2001; daughter, Yvonne Koefod on August 27, 1999; sister, Anola Amundson and by two brothers, Palmer and Orris Torgrimson; In-Laws: Gordon Knutson, Orlin Amundson, and Shirley Torgrimson.
Funeral Service: 2 pm Monday, March 21, 2011 at the Peace Lutheran Church in Ashby
Visitation: Sunday from 4 to 7 pm with a 7 pm Prayer Service at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
