Gerald "Jerry" Nelson, age 75, of Apache Junction, formerly of Monticello, died Saturday, December 18, 2010

Gerald Eugene Nelson was born May 26, 1945 to Oscar and Eldora Nelson in Ashby. After life on the farm, he joined the Marines and was honorably discharged, Semper Fi. He worked many years as a concrete foreman for Knutson Construction and M.A. Mortenson. The many projects he was involved in will continue to be part of the Minneapolis skyline for some time to come. These projects include the Federal Reserve Bank, Hennepin County Building, Target Center, University of Minnesota Hospital, IBM and St. Mary's in Rochester as well as projects in Rapid City, SD and Devils Lake, ND. He was the best concrete estimator around.

Jerry and Pauline had just celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary in November 2010.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline; three daughters, Deborah (Todd) Reiss, Sandra (Shea) Reyes and Pamela (Dennis) Zukowski; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brothers, Calmer (Mary Jane), Marvin (Betty), David (Margaret) and Larry (Becky); and brother-in-law Carl Williams.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; brother in infancy; sister, Janet Williams; and granddaughter, Beth Reiss.

He will be missed but never forgotten.

Funeral Services: Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Peace Lutheran Church, Ashby, MN

Visitation: one hour prior to the service
