Eugene Lundquist, 91 of rural Battle Lake died Saturday, June 26, 2021, at the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center.
Eugene Wesley Lundquist was born on June 22, 1930, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota the son of Edwin and Altine (Glende) Lundquist. He was baptized and confirmed in First Lutheran Church in Battle Lake. Gene attended Rural School District #45, in Everts Township, which is located on the corner of the Lundquist farm, and graduated from the Battle Lake High School in 1948.
On September 15, 1973, Gene married Irene Margaret Spanswick at the First Lutheran Church in Battle Lake. They lived in their home by Battle Lake where he dairy and crop farmed with his dad and his brother, Roger. Irene died on December 9, 2004, and Gene continued to live at home until entering the Battle Lake Good Samartan Center last December. He was a lifetime member of First Lutheran Church where he had served on the church board. Gene served thirty-three years as a supervisor on the Everts Township Board. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and flying his airplane.
He is survived by three step-children, Janice (Robert) Coffman of Battle Lake, Steve (Donna Mueller) Stenstrom of Des Moines, Iowa and Robert (Sarah Moomar) Spanswick of Petersburg, W. Virginia; four grandchildren, Carmen (Mike) Johnson of Minneapolis, Cathy Sydow of Battle Lake, Kelsey Spanswick of Battle Lake and Nicholas (Jessica) Spanswick of Peoria, Arizona; seven great-grandchildren, Erin, Jordan, Madeline, Luke, Corben, Nathan and Drew; two sisters-in-law, Mary Lundquist and Harriet Lundquist both of Battle Lake; along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Irene; parents, Edwin and Altine Lundquist; sister, Arlene Lundquist; and by two brothers, Roger and James Lundquist.
Funeral Service: 11 AM, Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at First Lutheran Church in Battle Lake with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Clergy: Rev. Bradley Skogen
Interment: First Lutheran Cemetery in Battle Lake.
