Douglas Young, 91, Battle Lake died Monday, November 15, 2021, at the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center.
Douglas John Young was born on September 26, 1930, in Hong Kong, China the son of Alfred and Olga (Olsen) Young. He served with the US Air Force, stationed in Germany. Doug graduated from Ohio State University receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree.
He lived in Raleigh, North Carolina working for the government and advocating for the ocean for almost twenty years. Doug then lived in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina for twenty-seven years managing properties until 2017, when he retired to Minnesota. Doug served as a skydiving instructor, diving instructor, and was very active in the YMCA.
He is survived by his brother, Robert (Eileen) Young of Battle Lake; niece, Julie (Eric) Dison of Battle Lake; nephew, Steven (Lisa) Young of Battle Lake; grand-nieces and nephews, Robbie (Bri), Katie and Jessie Dison, Nathan, Andrew and Maia Young; and one great-grand niece, Xilenia.
There will be a Visitation Saturday, November 20, 2021, starting at 10 AM with a Prayer Service at 11 AM at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Battle Lake.
