Plainview, formerly of Evanville

On Thursday April 29, 2021, Doris Lorraine Johnson, loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away at the age of 93.

Doris was born April 13, 1928 in Fargo, North Dakota to Syvert and Myrtle (Turter) Teigland.  She attended school in Audubon, Minnesota and Oak Grove Lutheran High School in Fargo, North Dakota.  After high school, Doris attended Concordia Moorhead and Moorhead State University and received her teaching degree.  She began her teaching career in Evansville, Minnesota.  This is where she met the love of her life, Clayton Johnson.  She and Clayton married July 10, 1953 and they lived on Clayton’s family farm near Evansville.  She continued to teach until they began raising their family.  She was an active member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and then Faith Lutheran Church.  Her interests included her precious family and entertaining large family gatherings at their home.  She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, and reading.  Doris stayed on the family farm after the passing of Clayton and raised her three children there.  In 1979, Doris opened a nursery school in her home for pre-kindergarten students.  She continued her nursery school for 17 years until she moved to Plainview, Minnesota, near her daughter and family.  There she worked at Green Prairie Place as a waitress until she retired.  She was able to spend many hours with her grandchildren as they grew up. After retirement Doris wrote her life story and shared her story with many friends and relatives.  Doris was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church near Plainview, Minnesota as a member of the Congregational Care Committee and Book Club. She had many dear friends from Good Shepherd that she treasured.

Doris Johnson is survived by her three children Paul, Carol (Dennis) Buntrock, and Darlene (Adam) Bey, 5 grandchildren, Matthew, Logan, Collin, Morgan, and Geoffrey and 3 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Clayton Johnson and her parents Myrtle and Syvert Teigland.
