Dennis Wahl passed away peacefully on the morning of January 14, 2020 with his beloved wife, Carol, by his side in Albertville, MN.
Dennis was born in Fertile, MN on March 13, 1942 to Nilmar and Viola Charais Wahl. Dennis grew up on a farm in Mentor, MN with his four siblings Les, Robert, Jim and Carolyn. He graduated from Mentor High School in 1960. He went on to study math education and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Mayville State University in 1964. Dennis continued his education by earning a master’s and specialist degree from UND. Dennis worked as an educator and administrator for 36 years. He ended his career with 23 years of service to the Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton Public Schools where he worked as principal and superintendent.
During his time as a graduate student, Dennis met and fell in love with Carol Hotvedt. They were married on June 3rd, 1967. Dennis and Carol had three daughters--Jodi, Jackie, and Jill—who Dennis loved deeply. He enjoyed watching not only his daughters’ sports and music activities, but all of the activities that took place within the DGF School District.
Dennis retired in the year 2000 to Battle Lake, MN. Summers were spent on the lake with his daughters, sons-in-law, and nine grandchildren. Winters were spent in Destin, FL. Dennis loved golfing, fishing, watching sports, and most of all, spending time with his family. He was involved in the Lions Club, church activities, and served as mayor of Glyndon for ten years.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Nilmar and Viola Wahl, and his brother-in-law, Duane Morberg. He is survived by his wife Carol; his daughters Jodi (Troy) Miller, Jackie (Mark) Jordheim, and Jill (Charles) Cazett; his nine grandchildren Hannah, Riley, Erika, Nadia, Ethan, Olivia, Ella, Caleb, and Jacob; his four siblings Les (Jan) Wahl, Robert Wahl, Jim (Diane) Wahl, Carolyn Wahl Morberg and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials which will be designated for Eagle Lake Lutheran Church or the formation of a future DGF memorial scholarship.
A memorial service will be held at Eagle Lake Lutheran Church of rural Battle Lake, MN at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 25th.
A visitation will be held prior to the memorial service from 11:00 am - 1:00pm.
Private family interment in the Eagle Lake Lutheran Church Cemetery at a later date.
