Art Albertsen

July 28, 1924 — January 17, 2014

Arthur C. Albertsen, 89 of rural Ashby went to his father on January 17, 2014.

Art was born on July 28, 1924 at Red Lodge, Montana to Frederick and Ragnhilde (Kornmaaler) Albertsen. Both his folks were born in Denmark and he was very proud of his Danish heritage. When he was nine months old, the family moved to a farm near Ashby, Minnesota. He was baptized and later confirmed at the Pelican Lake Lutheran Church. When still very young, Art and his family moved to the farm where he spent the rest of his life.

Art walked to the Country School District #9, a couple miles from his home. He farmed with his parents until their deaths after which he stayed to farm until his retirement. Art had to stay active so his flower and vegetable gardens were always huge and lovely. He had a few hobbies including hunting and fishing, and working with wood.

Art was a treasurer of Pelican Lake Township for twenty-five years and a past director of the Grant County FHA.

Art married the former Dorothy Woltjer, October 9, 1950 at the Hjerdal Lutheran Church of rural Elbow Lake, Minnesota. Their daughter Anita was born three years later.

He was preceded in death by his sisters Dorothy Marie and Harriet Haroldson. There have been several other brothers and sisters-in-law who have gone before as well as his and his wife's parents.

Left to mourn his death is his wife of sixty-three years, Dorothy; daughter, Anita; grandsons, Roman (Cheryl) and Galin Michels. A sister Roberta and husband Howard Vegoe of Fargo as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
