Sharon Ehlers

Sharon Marie (Nelson) Ehlers passed away on July 28, 2022 at Sanford Health Center in Fargo, North Dakota.

Sharon Marie (Nelson) Ehlers was born August 4 1941 in Morris, Minnesota to parents Raymond and Mary (DeRung) Nelson. She was raised on a farm in Herman, Minnesota and she graduated from Herman High School. Once Sharon turned 18 she married the love of her life Neil Ehlers on August 8, 1959, whom she met while out roller skating. Their first born, Debbie, was born in January of 1961, followed 13 months later by their son Kirk.

Sharon worked at the Moeller Elbow Lake City Bakery until the mid-60’s before she started working as a CNA at the Elbow Lake Hospital in 1965. She continued working at the hospital as an assistant administrator until her retirement in the early 90’s. Sharon and Neil farmed for many years north of Elbow Lake. Sharon helped dig and combine in her spare time. She loved the outdoors and watching the wildlife (deer, pheasants, and wild turkeys). She always loved looking at her husband Neil’s beautiful rose bushes. Outside of work, Sharon was involved with the Grant County Wagon Train, 4H and Pomme de Terre 4H leader, a member of United Lutheran Church, a Sunday School teacher and superintendent of the United Lutheran Sunday School, and Ladies Aid. Sharon was very active in the Elbow Lake Study Club in Elbow Lake and both the local and state committees for the MN farm Bureau. She was also Treasurer and board member of the Emergency Grant County food shelf. Also, board member of West Central Community actions in Elbow Lake.

Sharon enjoyed traveling and going on vacation especially in Hawaii, Florida, Mexico and doing Caribbean cruises. She also loved spending time with her family and extended family.

Sharon Marie Ehlers passed away on July 28, 2022 at Sanford Health Center in Fargo, North Dakota.

Sharon in preceded in death by her Husband Neil Ehlers; parents Raymond and Mary Nelson; siblings Janet Tepley, Donna Sanders, and Robert Nelson; and her brother-in-law Robert Sanders.

She is survived by her daughter Debbie (Brian) Lacey of Dalton, MN; son Kirk (Karla) Ehlers of Wendell, MN; grandchildren Stephen (Jaylene) Lacey of Wendell, MN, Krystal (Josh) Crance of Fergus Falls, MN, Donald (Lisa) Lacey of Fergus Falls, MN, Neil Carlos Ehlers of Fargo, ND, Cristina Ehlers of Wendell, MN; great-grandchildren Natasha, Sadie, and Cassadee Lacey, Gabriel and Ariana Crance, Ava, Jackston, Magnolia, Claire, and Bennett Lacey; sisters-in-law Janet Nelson and Carol Ehlers; brother-in-law Ronnie Ehlers); Aunt Carol Thorstad; Aunts-in-law Selma Nelson; Uncle-in-law LuDean Baur; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral to be held Thursday August 4, 2022 at 11 AM at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls, MN with a Visitation at 10 AM

Interment at Lawrence Cemetery in Wendell, MN
