Sharon Ann Kirkvold was born on September 1, 1951 to Clarence and Arlene (Stull) Kirkvold in Detroit Lakes, MN. She was raised on the family farm in the Ashby/Dalton area. This is where she developed her lifelong passion for and affection for animals. She attended school in Ashby and graduated with the Class of 1969. She worked various jobs in the area either in a janitorial capacity or as a CNA. On February 25, 1984 she married Bruce Brockopp at First Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. They were blessed with a daughter, Amber Michelle. Sharon, Bruce and Amber relocated to Alexandria in 1994. She resided there until her death.
Sharon was always busy when not working, she enjoyed her time at home, spending time with her family and watching TV. She truly enjoyed watching The Price Is Right, Young and the Restless, crime documentaries and was known as a True Crime “Junkie”. Sharon also had a love of traveling, both short and long distances. She loved her short trips with Amber to go out to eat or to casinos in both MN and ND. She also had many long-distance trips as she was privileged to travel to 48 out of the 50 states. Only missing out on the opportunity to visit Hawaii and Alaska. Sharon was an excellent storyteller and enjoyed telling everyone she knew about her adventurous life. Her favorite story to tell was about her attendance to the original Woodstock in 1969.
Sharon is survived by her loving husband, Bruce Brockopp; daughter, Amber (Louie) Babcock and one brother, Floyd Kirkvold. She was preceded in death by her parents.
