Shannon Santen

Shannon Van Santen, age 68, of Rural Battle Lake , died Friday, November 05, 2010 at the Hospice House of Fergus Falls.

Shannon Ione Van Santen was born October 23, 1942 to Selmer and Irene (Osmon) Boe at Ashby , MN . She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church , Ashby. Shannon attended and graduated from Ashby Public Schools in 1961.

She married Kenneth Van Santen July 1, 1962 at Trinity Lutheran Church , Ashby. They lived on a farm in Eagle Lake Township , where they farmed for a number of years. She was employed by the City Restaurant in Ashby until her retirement. Ken passed away April 10, 2005. They had been married 43 years. Shannon was a member of Leaf Mountain Lutheran Church and active in Ladies Aid. She was also active in Ashby American Legion Auxiliary.

Shannon was a people’s person, who enjoyed joking and teasing as well as playing cards and doing puzzles. She lived to cook and bake. Her greatest joy was working in the City Restaurant and all the people she met there. Shannon greatly enjoyed her family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Holly (Steve Knipe) Van Santen Knipe, Grand Forks; sons, Brian (Sandy) Van Santen, Alexandria; and Kerry Van Santen, Clitherall; grandchildren, Nathan Van Santen, Sarah Van Santen, Kristi Van Santen, Kathy Kozub, Anthony Van Santen, and Harlie Van Santen; great-grandchildren Abigail and Riley Kozub; pet grandson, Sam; brothers, Donovan (Laura) Boe, WY, Gary Boe, Glenwood, Charlie (Gail) Boe, Glenwood; sisters-in-law, Rose Boe, Glenwood and Audrey Boe, Fergus Falls; several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Shannon was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; her parents and 2 brothers, Lou Boe and Carroll Boe.
