Fergus Falls

Ruby "Rosemary" Smith, 86, passed away Friday, June 30, 2023, at Park Gardens in Fergus Falls, Minnesota.

Rosemary was born in Medford, Wisconsin and grew up in the small town of Hannibal with her sisters and brother. After graduating from high school, she made her way to Minneapolis where she was married and had four children. After her two oldest boys were grown and off to the Marines, she took a second job and raised the two remaining girls on her own. Eventually, she was able to purchase her own home in Columbia Heights, MN. She lived in her home for many years and enjoyed gardening and maintaining a beautiful backyard with pathways leading around the various flowers and shrubs.

Rosemary enjoyed church and became very close friends with the pastor and his wife. She was active in church and sang in the church choir for a time. Unfortunately, in the later years she was having difficulty caring for herself, so it was decided it was best she be where she could get the assistance she needed and was moved into assisted living where she maintained her own apartment. She was fine in this environment and enjoyed the activities like Bingo, and from what we have been told was very good at it (or very lucky). She made friends, who have told us of her quick wit and her stories of growing up in Hannibal.

Rosemary was proceeded in death by her son Bradley and daughter Jennifer. She is survived by her son Marcus (Ida) and daughter Rosalee as well as grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She will be taken back to her hometown and laid to rest among her family On September 16th, 2023.
