Ruby Hanneman

Ruby Hanneman, 85, of Fergus Falls, died Friday, October 20, 2017, at the Broen Home in Fergus Falls, Minnesota.

Ruby Joan Hanneman was born on July 15, 1932, in Carlisle Township of Otter Tail County, MN the daughter of Erick and Clara (Ouren) Jorgenson.  She was baptized and confirmed at Hedemarken Lutheran Church of rural Carlisle.  Ruby attended school District #221 and graduated from Rothsay High School.

On February 3, 1951, she married Gordon A. Hanneman at Hedemarken Lutheran Church.  The couple resided in Elizabeth Township where they farmed for four years.  They purchased a farm and built their home in Friberg Township where they resided from 1956 until their retirement in 1993.  After retirement they built a home in Friberg Township. After Gordon's death, Ruby moved to her current residence in Fergus Falls.

She was a member of the Tonseth Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and was an active member in the ladies aide and cemetery council; also a member of the Friberg Homemakers Club and Long Lake Homemakers. As a current member of Messiah Lutheran Church, she participated in ladies aide and quilting for members of the community.

Her hobbies included handiwork, reading, quilting, card playing, gardening, volunteering at the Food Shelf and baking cakes that many people enjoyed for over 20 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon: her parents, Erick and Clara; son, Charles; sister, Sylvia Hanneman; four brothers, Harley, Elroy, Edward and Gaylen.

She is survived by her daughter, Deb Hanneman and her husband Phil Jean-Baptiste; three granddaughters Meghan Jean-Baptiste, Alexendra Jean-Baptiste and Paige Carlson; sister, Gloria Miller; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral Services: 11 AM, Saturday, October 28, 2017, at Messiah Lutheran Church of rural Underwood, MN

Visitation: Friday from 5 to 7 PM at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
