Rosie was born May 15, 1945 to parents Donovan and Myrtle (Libke) Grover. She was baptized and confirmed at the First Presbyterian Church of Ashby. She graduated from Ashby Public School in 1963. She continued her education at the Wahpeton State School of Science where she earned her associate Degree from the LPN program.
She was united in marriage to Donald F. Nissen on June 12, 1968, to this union two children were born: Teresa and Thomas.
Rosie and Donald lived in Fargo where Rosie worked as a nurse at Dakota Clinic. Upon retirement, Rosie and Donald moved to Ashby, Minnesota where Rosie was a PARA at the Ashby Public School and enjoyed working with children. She was a member of the Ashby Lions and the Ashby American Legion Auxiliary. Rosie was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
She enjoyed getting together with family and friends, reading, quilting, and listening to music.
Rose “Rosie” Marie Nissen, 80, of Ashby, MN, died on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at the Ashby Living Center in Ashby, MN.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald; daughter, Theresa; sisters, Elizabeth Grover, Margaret (Grover) Hubel; parents, Donovan and Myrtle Grover; sister-in-law, Ann Grover; brother-in-law, Bob McNeely.
She is survived by son, Thomas Nissen; son-in-law, Jason Jochim; four grandchildren, Megan Jochim Young, Spencer (Samantha) Jochim, Erin Nissen, Kieran Nissen; great-grandchildren, Haddie and Cohan Young; siblings, Kathleen McNeely, Donnie Grover, David (Donna) Grover, Tom (Terry) Grover, Becky (Donnie) Amundson, Bob (Donna Fay), and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
Celebration of Life Gathering & Lunch: 2-4 P.M., Saturday, January 24, 2026, at the First Presbyterian Church, Ashby, MN, in the lower level of basement.
