Ronald Wayne Macheledt, 82 of rural Battle Lake passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, December 28, 2017.

Ron Macheledt was born on March 14, 1935, in Marshall, Minnesota the son of Matthew Sr. and Eva Bertha (Hoover) Macheledt.  He graduated from Marshall High School in 1953.

Ron Macheledt and Colleen Cool were married on September 28, 1953, in the St. Lawrence Catholic Church by Rush Lake.  After their marriage they moved to Otter Tail Lake, where they owned and operated Sandy Shores Resort for twenty-one years.  Ron began work in 1968 on the North Slope of Alaska for Western Geophysical where he explored for oil and worked as a mechanic.  He then continued his employment in Alaska as a commercial fisherman.  He spent a total of forty-nine years working in Alaska.  After his employment in Alaska, he began working as a plumber in the Battle Lake area.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.  Ron and Colleen looked forward to wintering in the Gulf Shores of Alabama which they did for the past 10 years.

He is survived by his wife, Colleen; eight children, Tammie Larson of Roy, Utah, Tom (Deb) Macheledt of Battle Lake, Jean Anne Waby of Ashland, WI, James (Prudy) Macheledt of Otsego, Mary Alice (Greg) Larsen of Chanhassen, Wayne Macheledt of Fergus Falls, Cathy (Chuck) Kochmann of Monticello and Beth Anne (Ryan) Theisen of Saginaw, MN; sixteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Matt (Joan) Macheledt of White Bear Lake; and by numerous relatives and friends.  Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew and Eva Macheledt; infant son, Dean Patrick Macheledt; son-in-law, Doug Larson; and grandson, Kai Larson.

Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Battle Lake.

Visitation: Tuesday from 5 to 7 PM, with a 6:30 PM Prayer Service, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church and 1 hour prior to the Mass on Wednesday.

Interment: Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Cemetery
