Ronald Hollar, 72, of Evansville, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2014, at Prairie Ridge Hospital in Elbow Lake, Minnesota.

Ronald was born on November 18, 1941 in Beach, North Dakota, the son of Harold and Rose (Wertz) Hollar. Ron was raised on the family ranch north of Beach. He was educated at a rural country school and the Beach Public School, graduating from Beach High School in May of 1959. He entered the U.S. Navy after graduation and served aboard the USS Eldorado at San Diego, California. He was honorably discharged early to take over operations of the family ranch.

Ron operated the family ranch for 20 years. He then owned and operated the Coast to Coast Hardware store in Beach for five years and worked in the oil fields for the next seven years. After that time he moved to the Vermillion/Hastings, Minnesota area and for the past fifteen years, have resided in Evansville, Minnesota.

Ron met Diane Schmeling in high school and they were married on February 9, 1963. The couple had two sons: Harold and Vernon.

Ron enjoyed flying, bowling, visiting with everyone, and would find out as much about an individual as he could in no time flat. He was a jokester and played many tricks on his family and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William "Bill" and George "Jack".

Ron is survived by his wife, Diane; two sons, Harold (Jackie) and Vernon (Nancy), both of Hastings, MN; six grandchildren: Jason, Jennifer, Jordyn, McKensie, Nicole and Grant; sisters, Miriam Guderian of Hibbing, Jeanette Mitchell of Wausau, WI; a brother, Timothy of Hamilton, MT; aunt, Eva Ferguson; and by many cousins, nephews and nieces.

Funeral Service: 2 PM Saturday, November 8, 2014, at Faith Lutheran Church in Evansville

Visitation: 12:30 PM - 2 PM Saturday at the church

Clergy: Rev. Dennis Preston

Interment: Beach Lutheran Cemetery, Beach, North Dakota
