Robert Westgard

Robert A. Westgard, Sr., 77, of Battle Lake died Thursday, April 23, 2020 at his residence under the care of his family and LB Hospice.

He was born January 24, 1943 in St. Paul, MN to Alfred and Teckla (Becker) Westgard.  He grew up in St. Paul and graduated from St. Agnes Catholic School.  On April 20, 1963, he was united in marriage to Carol Wojcik at St. Agnes Catholic Church in St. Paul.  Bob began employment with the U.S. Postal Service in 1965.  In 1993, Bob and Carol moved to their lake home on West Battle Lake.  Bob enjoyed golfing, community involvement and church activities.  He was an active member of the Battle Lake Lion’s Club where he served as treasurer for many years.

Bob is survived by his children, Robert, Jr. (Michelle) Westgard of Blaine, MN and Jacqueline (James) Prigge of Buffalo, MN; four grandchildren: Brian and Cory Westgard, Jason (Brittany) Prigge and Jennifer Prigge; two great-grandchildren: Austin James Prigge and Addison Prigge; a sister, Carolyn (Bruce) Fitzgerald of Woodbury, MN and a brother, Harold (Dee) Westgard of White Bear Lake, MN.  He was preceded in death by his parents and in 2018 by his wife, Carol.

Memorials are preferred.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 13, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Battle Lake.
