Robert “Bob” Dale Vigesaa, age 82, passed away at his home in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota on Monday, September 4, 2017.

Bob or “Bobby” was born on May 30, 1935 in Hope, North Dakota to Sigvart and Edythe (Houghton) Vigesaa and grew up in Twin Valley, MN. He attended the Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf in Faribault. Bob had a rich work life as a welder and owned his own house painting and lawn care business. He spent much of his free time hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.

Bob was youngest of eight children; he often shared stories about how much all of his family impacted his life in one way or another. These stories included times on the family farm with his beloved parents, sisters, brothers, and childhood friends Dennis Bueng and Ron Holtman.

Bob was very proud of his Norwegian Heritage and passed on his love of Kumla, Lefse, and homemade chicken and noodles to the children and grandchildren he loved.

Bob is survived by two sisters, Doris “Dolly” (Clifton) Brevik of Twin Valley and Shirley (Fay) Heffington of Arkansas; his six children, Sandy (Terry) Green of Frazee, MN, Mark (Karen) Vigesaa of Vergas, MN, Julie (Jay) Barlow of Iowa, Rob (Lea) Vigesaa of Utah, Lori (Pete) Billodeau of Detroit Lakes, MN and Missy (Jon) Marsh of Lino Lakes, MN; his grandchildren, Ashley (Joe) Schoenack; Adam (Allison), Garrett, and Brittany Barlow; Chelsey and Dylan Green; Robbie and Bryan Vigesaa, Conner and Logan Yliniemi; and Jordan, Samantha, and Jonathan Marsh; two great-grandchildren, Evelyn Barlow and Cameron Schoenack, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Clifford, Richard, Orla, Betty, and Horace.

Memorial Service: 11 AM Saturday, September 9, 2017, at Zion Lutheran Church, Twin Valley, Minnesota, with visitation one hour prior to services at the church.

Interment: Twin Valley City Cemetery
