Robert "Bob" Anderson, 80, of Evansville, died on Friday, October 30, 2015 as the result of an automobile accident.
Bob Anderson was born on May 8, 1935, in Alexandria, MN, the son of David E. and Edith (Johnson) Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed at Calvary Covenant Church in Evansville. Bob attended Evansville High School where he participated in multiple sports and graduated in 1953. Bob went into the Army right out of school, where he honorably served his country for the next three years.
After his military service, Bob attended Dunwoody Institute for Electrical Trade, where he received his Journeyman's and later Master Electricians License. While attending Dunwoody he met Betty Thalmann. Bob and Betty were married in 1959. They had three children, Carol, Joan and David. The family lived in Evansville. In 1967, Bob established "Anderson Electric" which he owned and operated with his wife, Betty for the next 42 years. Bob retired and sold the business to his oldest grandson, Tyler in 2008.
Bob was a lifetime member of Calvary Covenant Church. He also served on many boards and organizations including: Evansville Developers, Evansville Fire Department, Evansville City Council, Evansville School Board and served as a delegate to the Minnesota State High School League for several years.
Bob loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He enjoyed deer hunting and spending time with family at their cabin in Emmaville. Bob was an avid sports fan and loved to watch all levels of sports from his great-grandson's toss ball games to professional sports. He also enjoyed playing whist and cribbage with family and friends. Bob spent many hours in his shop tinkering with different projects.
Bob is survived by his daughters, Carol (Dean) Sayre of Forest Lake, MN and Joan (Gene) Barsness of Brandon, MN; a son, David (Tanya) Anderson of Lake Elmo, MN; seven grandchildren, Tyler Anderson, Tony Ohren, Chris (Mahrie) Ohren all of Evansville, Matt Ohren of Alexandria, MN, Tom Ohren of Jordan, MN, Alexis Anderson and Brandon Anderson of Lake Elmo, MN; four step grandchildren, Jeremy Sayre of Evansville, Jacquelyn Sayre of Elbow Lake, MN, Shanna Femrite of Starbuck, MN, and Tawnya Barsness of Brandon, MN; five great grandchildren, Carson, Jaiden, Nolan, Averie and Eisley; two sisters, Frances Gunberg of Minneapolis and Margaret (Elton)Chatfield of West Covina, CA; a brother, Richard (Sue) Anderson of Evansville along with several family and friends.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents; wife Betty in 2012; infant Baby Anderson; son-in-law, Wade Anderson; brothers-in-law, Ralph Thalmann and Dwight Gunberg and sister-in-law, Nora Thalmann.
Visitation: 5-7 PM, Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Evansville, and one hour prior to the service at church.
Memorial Service: 11 AM, Thursday, November 5, 2015, at the Calvary Covenant Church, Evansville.
