Battle Lake

Richard Martin Wynsteker, a devoted farmer, businessman, friend and family man, passed away on February 15, 2024, in Elbow Lake, MN. Born on February 18, 1930, in Minneapolis, MN. Richard's life was characterized by hard work, entrepreneurial spirit, and dedication to his loved ones.

Richard's journey in life reflected a remarkable, one of a kind work ethic that began during the Great Depression. He found success as a farmer, owned a dry cleaning business, and later ventured into the transportation sector before he and his wife, Marie retired to the family farm property near Battle Lake.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Richard found joy in hunting. It was during these moments in nature that he found solace and peace from the demands of everyday life. His passion for hunting connected him with the outdoors and enabled him to travel across the country for many hunting trips. There was always a pot of coffee on at the “farm” and an open invitation to family and friends to stop over for a cup of coffee and conversation. This would turn into updates about how the hunting season was going or where the fish were biting. He loved all the new technology to see what was walking through the woods. If someone showed up for coffee and he wasn’t inside he could be found somewhere in the yard be that tending to his multiple gardens, mowing the lawn or tinkering/fixing a piece of machinery, he liked to stay busy and always said it kept him young.

Among Richard's proudest achievements was his family. He is survived by his sons Robert, James and Gary Wynsteker; granddaughters Nicole, Kara and Rachel with her spouse Jon; great-grandchildren Callie Rae, Luke, John Jr. and Maddison.

Preceded in death was his beloved wife, Marie Wynsteker.

Richard Martin Wynsteker will be remembered for his resilience, kindness, and unwavering commitment to those he held dear. His legacy lives on through his family and all those who were fortunate enough to have known him. May he rest in peace knowing that he leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories that will be treasured for generations.

Per Richards wishes there will not be a funeral service. A Celebration of Life will be held on a future date to be determined.
