Reuben Froemming, 83 of Underwood passed away Friday, November 24, 2017, at the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center.
Reuben William Froemming was born on August 30, 1934, to Erhard and Lillian (Woessner) Froemming. He grew up on the family farm while he attended eight grades at District #23 in Leaf Valley of rural Garfield and then attended Alexandria High School. Reuben worked on the Great Northern Railroad for two years, before entering the US Army serving from 1957 to 1959, as a gunner and in the color guard, serving nineteen months in Hawaii.
Reuben was united in marriage to JoAnn Pflugradt on May 7, 1960, in Leaf Valley, Minnesota. They resided in Minneapolis, Bloomington, Eden Prairie and Maple Grove all in Minnesota and they had two sons, Randall and Kevin. Reuben worked construction in the Twin Cities area as well as neighboring states. His longest working experience was with Minnesota Exteriors as a carpenter for thirty-three years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing whether in Minnesota or Canada. Rudy was a joke teller and made people laugh, he enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds and also loved to dance to old time music. JoAnn died on March 23, 1988. Reuben married Janice K. Weniger on August 24, 1990, in St. Paul, Minnesota and they resided in Maple Grove, until moving to Underwood in July of 2002.
Reuben is survived by his wife, Janice; two sons, Randall (Tammy) of Battle Lake and Kevin (Mandy) and grandson, Crosby of Champlin; two sisters-in-law, Bernice and Florence Froemming and by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, JoAnn; five brothers Miles, Kermit, Dale, Delbert and Donald Froemming and by one nephew, Michael Froemming.
Funeral Service: 11 AM, Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at Sverdrup Lutheran Church in Underwood.
Visitation: Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM, with a Prayer Service at 6:30 PM, at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Battle Lake and one hour prior at the church on Wednesday.
