Phyllis Ness, 84, of Fergus Falls, died Friday, December 5, 2014, at Broen Home in Fergus Falls, surrounded by her family.
Phyllis Clarice Ness was born on September 11, 1930, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of Phillip and Clara (Nelson) Eggum. She attended rural School District #2 by Dalton and later, Ashby High School.
On July 16, 1947, she married Willard Andy Ness of Battle Lake. They raised four children, Darrel, Dean, Gary and Barbara. Willard passed away in October of 1968. She was fortunate to meet Ray Zavadil and together they enjoyed dancing, gardening, spending time with grandchildren, and doing a lot of cooking. Phyllis lived most of her life in the Dalton area until moving to Fergus Falls in 2002.
Phyllis was a hard working lady, holding numerous jobs in the area. She had worked for Skogmo Café, Dalton Café, Ashby Produce, Lake Region Hospital, the Regional Treatment Center, and also worked part time with Stub's Dining Hall. She enjoyed spending time with family and her special friend, Joanne Thornton.
She is survived by two sons, Darrel (Sue) Ness of Ashby and Dean (Barb) Ness of Dalton; daughter-in-law, Linda Ness of Ashby; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Rodney (Mavis) Eggum of Dalton; sister, Carolyn Busko of Fergus Falls; two sisters-in-law, Bernice Starin of Fergus Falls and Lois Eggum of Dalton; brother-in-law, Eldred (Betty) Ness of Ashby and Burnell (Ann) Ness of Pillager; friend, Joanne Thornton of Fergus Falls; and by numerous relatives and friends.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Willard; daughter, Barbara Olson; son, Gary Ness; special friend, Ray Zavadil; two brothers, Lavern and Harold Eggum; and by her parents, Phillip and Clara Eggum.
Visitation: 4 – 7 PM Tuesday, at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls, and one hour prior to services.
Memorial Service: 1 PM Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls
