Paul J. Seidel, 84, of Clitherall, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2026, after a short stay at Battle Lake Good Samaritan Society Nursing Home.
Paul Seidel was born September 4, 1941, in St. Paul, MN to Paul and Irene Seidel. He graduated from Battle Lake High School in 1960. Paul was drafted and joined the Army Reserves in 1964.
In 1960 Paul met Joellen Dunn at Hull’s Landing on West Battle Lake; four years later they were united in marriage on February 18, 1964. Together they had two sons: Dean and John.
Paul had a fulfilling career working for Mark Sand and Gravel for a total of 35 years. Paul & Jo built, owned and operated NAPA Auto Parts in Battle Lake from 1983 to 1990. After selling NAPA Auto Parts Paul worked for Lampy Ready Mix for 3 years before returning to Mark Sand and Gravel until his retirement in 2005. Paul was also an active member of his community serving as council member for the City of Clitherall for many years.
Paul was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, anything to do with airplanes and gardening. Paul made many fishing trips to Canada with family and friends both in the summer and winter. He enjoyed ice fishing with family and friends in his icehouse. Paul and Jo owned property near Margie, MN where he built a ‘hunting shack’ and enjoyed time with family and friends hunting deer and grouse. Paul owned a couple light airplanes (Taylorcraft & Piper) which he enjoyed flying and attending fly-in breakfasts. Paul and Jo enjoyed gardening and provided vegetables and canned goods to family and friends.
Preceding Paul in death are his parents; brothers, Kenneth, Loren, Eugene and sister Dorothy Buhl.
He is survived by his wife, JoEllen; sons Dean (Nancy) and John; six grandchildren, Cory (Samantha), Kaila (Dorian), Megan (Jake), Travis, Kimberly (Brian), Nicole (Josh); five great grandchildren, Leland, Ryland, Brylie, Myles & Callen; sister-in-law’s, Carol (Earl) Nacke and Penny Seidel; many nieces and nephews and his is beloved dog, Buddy.
A Funeral Service will be held 2pm Friday, March 6, 2026 Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Battle Lake. A visitation will begin at 1pm. Burial following the service will be at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Cemetery.
