Patrick Thompson, 80, passed away June 26, 2025.
Patrick Thompson’s life began in 1944, born the last of eight children to Peter and Laura Thompson. He attended high school in Battle Lake, Minnesota and received a B.A. degree in Business/Marketing from Moorhead State University in Moorhead, MN. In 1967, he married his high school sweetheart, Laurie Kevern in Henning, MN. To this marriage was born three children. Patrick began his career with Standard Oil Company, Ind., and in 1975, owned and operated a popular Restaurant/Truck Stop in Alexandria for many years until his retirement. After courageously battling multiple health issues, his health took an unexpected turn and God chose to take him home. His earthly life ended peacefully in the hospital where his wife, Laurie, was faithfully by his side. He is survived by his loving wife, one daughter and two sons and spouses, two grandsons and spouses, two granddaughters, a great-granddaughter, sister, nieces, nephews, and cousins. His interest and care for family, friends, and others he met was God given and his reward in life. “Do not weep for me, for I have believed in Him and prayed for mercy to be in His Kingdom for eternity.”
A Private Family Funeral Service will be held at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home of Battle Lake. Burial will be at First Lutheran Cemetery of Battle Lake, Minnesota.
