Myrtle Wedll, 92 of Fergus Falls died Monday, June 16, 2014 at the Pioneer Care Center in Fergus Falls.
Myrtle Helen Wedll was born on June 22, 1921 by Erhard, Minnesota the daughter of Frank and Kathryn (Holthusen) Boese. She attended Country School by Erhard, and a while after her schooling she moved to Minneapolis where she was employed with Honeywell.
Myrtle was united in marriage to Lawrence Wedll on June 8, 1942 in Tacoma, Washington while Lawrence was serving in the Army. Myrtle served in the war effort, first working in an Army Hospital in Fresno, California, then with Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, Washington. After Lawrence's discharge they returned to Elizabeth where they purchased the George Wedll Family Farm. Myrtle raised chickens, selling eggs both to neighbors and in town. They retired from farming in 1978, and together they enjoyed seeing almost every state in the United States along with traveling to Europe. Myrtle was a member of the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers, VFW Auxiliary and was on the Auxiliary Drill Team, was a Banquet Cook at the VFW for thirteen years, and had served as the School Board Clerk for Rural School District #1407. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, cooking, gardening, an excellent caramel roll baker, was known for her raspberries and loved their farm life. Myrtle especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by four children, Janet (Mark) Fuder of Fergus Falls, Kay (Dennis) Suchomel of Scottsdale, AZ, Donald Wedll of Bethel, AK and Pete Wedll of Fallbrook, CA; six grandchildren, Sam Wedll, Lacey (Wayne) Wesberry, Jourdaine Wedll, Matthew (Casey) Fuder, Jessica (Greg) Brown, and Amanda (friend, Bryan Kuschel) Fuder; six great-grandchildren, Danelle Peterson, Isabel Wedll, Sam Wedll, Addison Brown, Quade Brown and Lucas Fuder; two nieces, Darlene (Robert) Borene of Owatonna and Betty Ricks of Alexandria; two nephews, Dennis Zimmerman of Sauk Centre and Roy Olson of Minot, ND; sister-in-law, Rita Wesenberg of N. Palm Beach, FL; and by numerous relatives and friends. Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence on April 6, 2010; parents, Frank and Kathryn Boese; and by three sisters and their husbands, Gladys (Ervin) Zimmerman, Mabel (Ray) Sha and Bertha (Melvin) Olson.
Funeral Mass: Friday at 10:30 am, June 20, 2014 at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Elizabeth
Visitation: Thursday from 5 to 7 pm with a Prayer Service at 6:30 pm at the Brenny Hall in Elizabeth and one hour prior to the mass on Friday.
