Marvin Schwarck

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Marvin Wayne Schwarck on October 31, 2026. Marvin was born August 15, 1927 at home in rural Ashby, Minnesota to Alfred and Florence (Larson) Schwarck. Upon the passing of his father when Marvin was only two years of age he was raised by his mother and grandparents Louis and Clara Larson and aunts and uncles Edna, Dorothy, Henry, Lillian, Lawrence, and Harold Larson on the farm west of Ashby.

Leaving Ashby high school before completing his senior year Marv served briefly in the United States Navy at the conclusion of WW II; returning to graduate the following year with the Ashby class of 1946. Like many veterans of his time he moved to Detroit, Michigan were he found work in the dairy business. He married Phyllis Sieting of South Lyon, Michigan in August of 1948. Marvin eventually rose to become Superintendent of the ice cream division of a large Michigan dairy. He also hand built several duplexes, and reconstructed homes for use as rentals. It was in Michigan where he spent 40 years working and raising his family. Upon the passing of Phyllis, Marvin married Suzanne Wright eventually returning to Minnesota after retirement. His retirement was spent traveling to Venice, Florida in the winter months, and enjoying lake life at home on Sewell Lake in the summer. His greatest enjoyments were fishing, gardening, cooking, garage sales, reading, sports on TV and visiting with friends and hosting the annual Larson/Nelson 4th of July picnic complete with a sunfish fry.

Marvin was a member of Kvam Free Lutheran Church, Ashby, where interment will take place.

He is survived by his children, Donald (Sue) Schwarck of Michigan, Karen Shimp (Mark) of Delaware, and Linda Holton (Thomas) of Michigan and half sister Norma Miller of Florida. Grandchildren Matt Schwarck (Nicky), Paul Schwarck (Kelly), Kasey Fox (Bryan) grandson Thomas Holton III, great granddaughter Mila Fox, and step son Rick Wright (Julie) and family James, Kirsten, Cameron, and step grandson Justin Wright (Stephanie).

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Phyllis (Sieting 1982) and wife Suzanne (Wright 2019); his daughter-in-law Karen (Rayner), his step daughter Deanna Wright, grandson Drew Wright, and grandson Army Specialist Shane Holton.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 5, 2026, at Kvam Lutheran Church, rural Dalton, with a visitation one hour prior to the service.

Interment: Kvam Lutheran Cemetery, Dalton, MN
