Marlin Kubitz

November 15, 1946 — August 20, 2025

Marlin Kubitz, 78, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at his residence under the care of HIA Hospice for a short but courageous battle with stage 4 brain cancer.

Marlin Frank Kubitz was born November 15, 1946, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, to William and Yolanda (Kenyon) Kubitz. Marlin was the youngest of 10 children. He attended school in Friberg Township then later in Barnesville. Marlin would later go on and receive his automotive and diesel mechanic’s certificates. He was employed by Ford, Carlson Tractor, and later became the service manager for John Deere. Marlin helped open the store in St. Cloud that he would manage for the next 20 years.

On September 8, 1964, Marlin married Bernice Widness in Sisseton, South Dakota. Marlin and Bernice were blessed with 4 children, Corrina, Dady, Wes, and Wade. With Marlin’s job taking them to different places around the state, they ended up in the Southern Minnesota area and made Monticello their home.

Marlin loved his family and enjoyed going to grandkids’ sporting events. He and Bernice would travel to Montana every year to visit family, and they also made the occasional trip to Nashville or Branson. Marlin was a collector of John Deere memorabilia and enjoyed going to tractor pulls, but most of all, he was proudest of his 1965 Ford Galaxy 500 and 1969 Mustang.

Marlin is survived by his wife, Bernice; children, Corrina Kubitz, Dady (Tom) Pigeon, Wes (Lori) Kubitz, Wade Kubitz; grandchildren, TJ (Michelle) Pigeon, Brandon Kubitz, Autumn Kubitz (Brad Holloway fiancé), Courtney Kubitz, Brady (Stephanie) Kubitz; one great-grandson; sisters, Gertrude Muckey, Lorice Seeba, Luella Stramer; brothers-in-law, Arv Widness, Gale Hamner; along with many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Yolanda; siblings, William Kubitz Jr., Donald Kubitz, Gerald Kubitz, Enrest Kubitz, Rebecca Vogel, and Glendora Nosal.
