Marion Pederson

Marion E. Pederson, age 98, of Battle Lake , MN died Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center.





Marian Elizabeth Pederson was born on February 19, 1912, to Alfred and Ellen (Fjestad) Haagenson in Carlisle , MN . She was baptized in North Immanuel Church , and was confirmed in Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls . After graduating from Fergus Falls High School , she was married to Morton A. Pederson in 1930, by his father, The Reverend Elias Pederson, and lived in Fergus Falls for many years, later moving to the Minneapolis area. She was employed by Sears Roebuck for 27 years until her retirement.





Marion and her husband moved to Battle Lake in 1973, first living at their lake home at South-Point, then moving into town, where they later built a home on Madison Avenue on the lake. Marion was an active member of a Homemakers group, Republican Women’s Club, and ELCW at First Lutheran Church . She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandparent and friend. She was a needle-worker most of her life, and also a great hostess who loved to entertain. Marian was known as a baker of wonderful apple pies and orange rolls, which she shared abundantly. Giving to others was part of her faith.





She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Samuelson; granddaughters, Barbara Samuelson (Russell Smith), Lynne D’Agostino (William); grandson-in-law, Kenneth Larsen; great grandchildren, Samuel Larsen, Anthony and Claire D’Agostino, Sahara Smith; sister-in-law Stanza Haagenson along with many nieces, nephews and friends.





She was preceded in death by her husband, Morton; daughter, Barbara Beth; son-in-law, Donald Samuelson; sisters, Myrtle Crawford, Evelyn Callan, Florence Tomhave; Brothers, Arthur and LaVern Haagenson; granddaughter, Leslie S. Larsen.
