LuAnne Pikala, 66, of Fergus Falls, died on Monday, October 17, 2016, at her residence, under the care of Lakeland Hospice.
LuAnne Edith was born on October 19, 1949 at the Wright Hospital in Fergus Falls, the daughter of Erwin Oliver and Adeline Helen (Lundeen) Woldahl. She was baptized and confirmed at Grue Lutheran Church in Ashby and graduated from Ashby High School in 1967. After graduation, she moved to Northeast Minneapolis for employment at Honeywell.
On May 26, 1973, she married Larry Joseph Pikala in Hennepin County, Minnesota. In 1979, she left Honeywell to raise her daughters, Julie and Angie. In 1985, the couple moved from Columbia Heights to Fergus Falls. LuAnne worked at West Central Linen for 19 years before retiring in 2006, where she then became Grandma Daycare to her grandkids, until 2008 when she was diagnosed with her first bout of cancer.
Her hobbies included summer fishing, cross stitching, crossword puzzles, playing cards such as whist and king's corner, word searches, and watching family feud, and was a faithful watcher of Days of Our Lives. She was very proud of her grandkids and enjoyed attending their events. LuAnne cherished her time spent this past summer with her special sister-in-law, Kathy Pikala Moody.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Erwin and Adeline Woldahl; a brother, Gene Woldahl; mother and father-in-law, Frank and Stella Pikala; and a nephew, Justin Woldahl.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Larry Pikala of Fergus Falls; two daughters, Julie (Ernie) Sanchez and Angie (Matt) Lien both of Fergus Falls; a brother, James Woldahl of Honolulu, HI and a sister, Karen (Doug) Dahlen of Fergus Falls; four grandchildren, Taylor, Hayden, Madison and Brady; special family friend, Howard C. Lee of Hawaii; along with numerous nieces, nephews, brother and sisters-in-law, cousins and a host of friends.
Visitation: Thursday, October 20th, 2016, from 5-7 PM, with a 6:30 PM Prayer Service at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls and resuming one hour prior to the service.
Funeral Service: 11:00 AM Friday, October 21, 2016, at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home.
