Lois and Dale Werner’s earthly love story ended this week after seventy years of marriage. Dale’s kidney failed and he was hospitalized. The entire family was together. Lois’s heart was broken and it stopped. It took her a little while, but five hours later she took him with her to Heaven. Lois Werner passed away on Sunday, October 5th, 2025 at eighty-nine years of age, and Dale Werner passed away on Monday, October 6th at ninety.
Dale Emil Werner was born April 4, 1935, in Darwin, Minnesota and was the son of Richard and Ruby (Condon) Werner. Lois Jean Werner was born January 13, 1936 in Darwin, Minnesota and was the daughter of William and Ethel (Lawerenz) Seefeldt. They attended and met at Dassel High School. Both were baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
After high school, Dale joined the armed services. Lois took the train to Raleigh, North Carolina where they got married on August 20, 1955. Three days later, Dale shipped out to Korea. He served two years with the U.S. Army. After his discharge, he returned to Minneapolis where Lois was working. They moved to St. Cloud where Dale graduated in 1962 with a Degree in Education. Dale taught for two years in Waubun, three years in Clarissa, and then twenty-five years in Mountain Lake. During that time, Lois worked at various places, including twenty-one years with the Good Samaritan Society. In 1992, they retired together to their home in Battle Lake.
In their retirement, they were active with the Battle Lake Food Shelf, Red Cross Bloodmobile, a homeless shelter with the People’s Church of Bemidji, Battle Lake Lions Club, and were members of Eagle Lake Lutheran Church.
Lois enjoyed sports, especially football, computer games, and reading. Dale enjoyed woodworking, crossword puzzles, computer games, coaching and reffing wrestling and football, fixing and giving away fishing rods, and watching all sports. They enjoyed spending time at the lake with their family and friends. Their three grandchildren were their pride and joy

A private family service will be held. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
