Liane Kay Barton (Roisland), 66, of Fergus Falls, died peacefully among family at her home on Sunday, October 1, 2017.
Liane was born December 25th, 1950 in Grand Forks, ND, the first of five children to Ernest Roisland and Bonnie Heinz. Liane attended high school in Grand Forks and soon after went into the health care industry. On December 27, 1969 Liane married her childhood friend, Bruce Barton. In 1971, Liane gave birth to their daughter, Teisha Marie, and in 1977 gave birth to son Ryan Kelly.
The family of four moved to Fergus Falls in 1981 and quickly settled into the town. Around the same time, Bruce and Liane had just finished building their beloved 1932 Chevrolet street rod. With the car, they traveled thousands of miles and have many memories in "Sundance".
In 1998 they were able to buy their dream house, which they have lovingly restored for the last 29 years.
Their house, traveling and the street rod were lifelong hobbies for Bruce and Liane, but her passion was people, which made her a perfect fit for working at PioneerCare, beginning in 1986. Initially, Liane worked as a nurse's aide and eventually became the Activities Director, Volunteer Coordinator, and Homemaker Coordinator simultaneously.
She was well loved by residents and staff alike. She put together many programs and projects with solely the residents care in mind. One of her prized accomplishments at Pioneer Care was the fundraising and designing of a porch at the home for the residents to enjoy year-round.
Liane was known to everyone she met as a warm, giving person who loved nothing more than family, which, to her, went well beyond blood relation. She always made sure to take care of everyone's needs.
Liane was preceded in death by her mother, Bonnie; father, Ernest; and brothers, Keven and Kerry.
She is survived by her husband, Bruce; daughter, Teisha (Paul) Magee of Saint Paul, MN; son, Ryan (Karen) Barton of Ramsey, MN; granddaughters, Sage, Caillean, and Rhiannon, and grandson Connor; two sisters, Vicki (Loren) Vettleson and Jan (Ron) Skallet; sisters-in-law, Linda and Carol; and many, many beloved nieces and nephews.
Liane's final selfless act was to give the gift of sight by donating her eyes to the Minnesota Lions Eye Bank. When you see a dragonfly know Liane is near and still spreading love everywhere she goes.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to PioneerCare Auxiliary in her memory.
Memorial Service: 2 PM Friday, October 6, 2017, at PioneerCare Celebration Center, Fergus Falls, with visitation one hour prior to services.
