Layna Greenwood

Beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Layna Greenwood passed peacefully in her sleep at her home on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at the age of 77. There will be a funeral service for Layna at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls. There will be a visitation one hour prior.

Layna spent 42 years of her career in medical records at Lake Region Healthcare/Fergus Falls Hospital, and 22 years in the Air Force Reserves where she achieved a rank of Master Sergeant. During her time in the military, she was a part of 119th wing of the Air National Guard, also known as the Happy Hooligans. They explored many exotic places including but not limited to Hawaii, Iraq, and Egypt.

Once retired, Layna enjoyed her many passions in life- caring for animals, wine making, and being a volunteer at many local events for veterans and the Humane Society. She was involved within the community as a board member of the local Senior Citizens Program, member of the Eagles Club and the Walk of Flags. Layna had been making homemade wine for friends and family since 1985. She loved hosting wine bottling parties where she and her loved ones would gather to share bottles of wine produced out of her Wall Lake home.

Layna is survived by her daughter, Caryle; grandsons, Justyn (Angie) and Skyler; 2 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Lynell (Kathy).

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Marjorie and Arthur.
