Lawrence “Nip” Larson, age 93, of Ashby died August 17, 2010 at the Barrett Care Center , Barrett , MN .





Nip was born February 14, 1917 in Pelican Lake Township , rural Ashby to L.C. and Clara (Kessel) Larson. He was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church , Pomme de Terre Township , rural Elbow Lake . Nip attended school at District 7 in Pelican Lake Township and worked for area farmers.





Nip married Wubena Moerke August 10, 1940 at Christ Lutheran Church , Pomme de Terre Township , rural Elbow Lake . The couple moved to Waterville , MN where he worked for a farmer for 5 years. They moved back to Pelican Lake Township where they have lived ever since. Nip farmed his land and drove milk truck for Ashby Co-op Creamery for 27 years.





Nip enjoyed visiting and telling stories. He played harmonica and liked to sing. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, playing horseshoe and feeding the birds, squirrels, rabbits and deer. He is a member of Peace Lutheran Church .





Nip is survived by his wife, Wubena, Barrett Care Center; sons, James (Marilyn) Larson, Union, NE, Richard (Sharon) Larson, Moorhead, Donald (Norma) Larson, David (Dianne) Larson, and Doug (Bridget) Larson all of Ashby; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Harold (Clara) Larson, Ashby.





He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Florence , Edna, Dorothy and Lillian and brother Henry.
