Kenneth Peterson

Kenneth Peterson, 99 of Battle Lake died Monday, November 15, 2021, at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.

Kenneth Erwin Peterson was born on October 29, 1922, born on a farm in Orwell Township, rural Fergus Falls, Minnesota the son of Andrew and Emma (Setterlund) Peterson.  He was baptized and confirmed in Augustana Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, and attended Country School District #197 in Orwell Township and District # 46 in Buse Township through the eighth grade.

Kenneth married Evelyn “Scottie” McDougal on January 29, 1959. They lived in Fergus Falls and then moved to Silver Lake by Battle Lake where they owned and operated Silver Bay Resort.  They enjoyed living on the lake, and one overseas vacation was visiting their son, Stanley when he was stationed in Korea.  Ken worked on farms until he was twenty, then was a semi driver for five years for Walters Albers and Emerson Molter Truck Lines.  He then was employed with Dieseth Specialty Co. for thirty years, for Cenex in Battle Lake for thirteen years and then was caretaker for Phelps Mill for five years.   He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors.  Scottie died on November 11, 2000.

Kenneth and Alice Borg were married on October 5, 2005, and they lived in Battle Lake.  Ken enjoyed hunting, fishing, and Ken and Alice in retirement enjoyed wintering in Florida and one year in Texas.  He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Battle Lake Senior Citizens, 49er’s Union and the Teamsters Union.

He is survived by his wife Alice; two children, Stanley (Yong) Peterson of Leesveille, Louisiana and Kay Dalluge of Perham; step-daughter, Sharlet (Jeff) Huston; grandchildren, Dawn (Gregory) Carter, Christine (Jim) Merritt, Chad Peterson, Amanda (Steve Sackett) Peterson, Shawn (Mandy Hejuk) Peterson, Kellie (Jeff) Vossen, Arika (David) Jares, Skeeter (Katie) Burmeister and Tate (Missy) Burmeister; great-grandchildren, Oscar, Sabastian, Cassie, Kallie, Taylor, Roman, Skyler, Brody, Colton, Riley, Mason, Theodore, Drake, Kaiden, Kenna, Kaleigh, Khloe and Draxton; and by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  Ken was preceded in death by his wife, Scottie; son and daughter-in-law, George and Sharon Peterson; parents, Andrew and Emma Peterson; three brothers, Roy, Ray and Art Peterson and by three sisters, Edna Stiener, Esther Zill and Helen Kavle.

Funeral Service: 1:00 PM, Monday, December 6, 2021, at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Battle Lake with visitation one hour prior to the service.
