Jannette M. Knackendoffel

Jannette M. Knackendoffel, 88, passed away August 24, 2026, at PioneerCare Center in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. A Memorial service will be held 11 am, Saturday, September 5, 2026, at PioneerCare. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Fergus Falls, Minnesota.

Jan was born on April 23, 1938, to parents George and Cora Knackendoffel in Fergus Falls. She was born at the Wright Hospital, which sat where Otter Tail Power Co. sits now. She graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1956 before moving on to nurses training in Minneapolis. Upon completing her nurses training, she moved back to Fergus Falls and began working at the State Hospital. She worked there for 34 years before retiring early due to the closure of the hospital. Soon after retirement, she became a caretaker for a couple of friends in Elbow Lake. She took care of them for several years until their passing.

Jan enjoyed activities that kept her mind sharp. She could often be found working on puzzles and completing word-finds. She was also fond of adult coloring books. Jan’s favorite activity, however, was Bingo. She played it often and it took it very seriously. Most importantly, Jan loved her family and friends. Her best Friend, LoveEll, was like a sister to her, and LoveEll’s family became like a second family to Jan.

Jannette M. Knackendoffel, 88, passed away August 24, 2026, at PioneerCare Center in Fergus Falls, Minnesota.

Jan is preceded in death by her parents, George and Cora; and her sister JoAnne Bales. She is survived by two nieces, Barbara Bales and Lynn Bales; honorary family, LoveEll Hultin, Jennifer Hultin, John (Lorie) Hultin, Tyler (Samantha) Hudson, Tanner (Taylor) Hultin, Briar Hultin, Ashley Mueller, and A.J. Mueller.
