George Luebke

August 19, 1941 — November 18, 2025

George Luebke, a devoted farmer, esteemed community member, and cherished family member, passed away on November 18, 2025, at his residence while tending to the land he loved dearly. Born on August 19, 1941, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, George was the son of Frank Herman Albert and Bertha Ida Anna (Boeder) Luebke.

Baptized at Tonseth Lutheran Church on November 16, 1941, George was confirmed at the same church on June 7, 1956. He received his primary education at Rugg School in Edwards Township, culminating in his graduation from Pelican Rapids High School in 1959. Following his graduation, he began working for Noyes Construction while also engaging in the practice of milking Holstein cows, which sparked his enduring love for agriculture.

George's entrepreneurial spirit blossomed when he partnered with his brother Melvin to establish a masonry business, where they created many beautiful brick masterpieces in the surrounding areas. In 2003, George retired from masonry to focus on farming, cultivating beef Herefords and further nurturing his profound affection for both the land and cattle.

Throughout his life, George was recognized for his simple yet meaningful approach to life. He was an active member of the Friberg Busy Beavers 4-H Club, where he showcased Holstein cattle at the County Fair, demonstrating his lifelong passion for livestock. His commitment to his community extended to serving on the Tonseth Lutheran Church Council multiple times and fulfilling various other roles within the church. Notably, he served as the chairman of the Tonseth Lutheran Cemetery Board, a position that allowed him to contribute significantly to the community beginning in the early 1980s. Additionally, he held a supervisor position on the Friberg Township Board.

George greatly valued the moments spent working on his land and caring for his cattle. He looked forward to gathering monthly with his classmates from the Class of '59 at the Cornfield Cafe, enjoying camaraderie and the shared memories of their youth. His instrumental role in securing the installation of a handicap lift at Tonseth Lutheran Church further exemplified his commitment to inclusivity and service.

He is survived by his sister, Debra "Deb" Samuelson of Erhard; nephew, Andrew (Jolene) Luebke of Otis Orchard, WA; niece, Crystal (Rod) Wangler of Rugby, ND; sister-in-law, Marilyn Luebke; along with numerous family members and friends who will remember him for his dedication, integrity, and gentle spirit.

George Luebke was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Bertha Luebke; his siblings, Elroy, Melvin, and Bill Luebke and his brother-in-law, Sheldon Samuelson. His legacy of hard work, love for the land, and deep-rooted connections to family and community will continue to inspire all who knew him.
