Gayle Douglas Langlie (Gramps) age 85 of Ashby, MN died peacefully, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Gayle was born April 20, 1938, to Morris and Sylvia Langlie in Eagle Lake Township. On March 30, 1956, he was united in marriage to Renee Boe; daughter of Roy “Capper” & Ester Boe. Gayle and Renee made their home in Ashby where they raised their four amazing girls.
Gayle was a hard-working man providing for his family by the diverse occupations he pursued. Gayle was an Owner/Operator of his own milk truck, farm helper, owner of L.B Hartz Grocery Store, roofer. He also worked as a truck driver for: Evavold’s Trucking, Mark Sand & Gravel, H&R Construction, fertilizer spreader for Ashby Equity, and later Manger for the LP Plant. He also served 27 years on the Ashby Volunteer Fire Department and took his turn at City Council.
Gayle loved spending time with his grandchildren. Gayle gave all of his grandchildren their first taste of Millerville Butter, right off of his knife. Gayle’s hobbies included woodworking, hunting, fishing, playing on his iPad, iPhone and sharing things on Facebook. Gayle also enjoyed playing pull tabs, casino trips and having a beer with friends. There wasn’t a place he went that he didn’t find someone he knew to visit with.
Gayle is survived by his daughters: Candace Ritten, Kimberly (David) Kaste, Jacqueline Wolff, Diane “Doopie” (Paul) Christensen; grandchildren: Heidi (Shawn) Ashfeld, Heather (Chris) Jacobson, Brandy (Chad) Swinford, Emily Kaste, and Brent Christensen; great-grandchildren: Morgan (Tyler) Kawlewski, Skyler, Cameron, and Eli Jacobson, and Marley Kaste and great-great grandson, Tanner Kawlewski; brothers: Roger (Joyce) Langlie, Jack Langlie and brother-in-law Allen Boe; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and several friends.
Gayle was proceeded in death by his beloved wife, Renee; parents: Morris & Sylvia Langlie; mother and father-in law, Roy “Capper” & Ester Boe; son-in-law’s: Daniel Ritten, Ricky Wolff, and David Evavold; sister, Sandra; brother-in-law, David Barry and sisters-in-law; Gwendolyn Langlie and Linda Boe.
