Gary Gilbert Sr.

Gary Dean Gilbert Sr. 86, of Becker, Minnesota, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026, in St. Cloud, Minnesota. His funeral service will be at 1pm on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Stavanger Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, MN. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place after the service at Stavanger Lutheran Cemetery.

Gary was born in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, on December 8, 1939, to Helen (Anderson) Cummings. He grew up initially in Ashby, but moved to Fergus Falls. After high school, Gary enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served as a mechanic. When Gary was honorably discharged from the Air Force, he returned home to Fergus Falls. In 1977, Gary moved to Becker, Minnesota, where he became a lifelong resident.

Gary was known as a “car guy”. Even though he was a truck driver by trade, he enjoyed collecting cars and using his mechanic skills to fix them up. He also like to visit, and loved it when visitors stopped by.

Gary is survived by his children, Gary (Ann) Gilbert Jr., Sandy O’Malley, David (Linda) Gilbert, Brian (Stephanie) Gilbert, Debra Dillon, Rick Pechia, and Eddie Gilbert; grandchildren, Rachel Gilbert, Samuel Gilbert, Jennifer Gilbert, Erin Gilbert, Justin Gilbert, Matt Gilbert, Hailey O’Malley, Jada Gilbert, Josh Gilbert, James Gilbert, Alexa Hendrickson, Jacob Yahr, Drew Dillon, McKenna Dillon, and Jenny Pechia; and his great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen; and his sister, Carol Falk.
