Faith Johnson

Faith (Mrs. Art) Dahlen Johnson died peacefully at home on July 15, 2013. She was born Faith Celestine Dahlen October 9, 1935 in Minneapolis MN. Her parents were Dr. Magnus and Myrtle Dahlen. Her father was a pastor in Chicago and Chippewa Falls. They moved to St Paul when he became director of charities for the American Lutheran Church. She graduated from Minnehaha Academy and graduated from the second nursing class at St Olaf College, Northfield in 1957. She married Arthur W. Johnson on December 15, 1956 in St Paul MN.

They moved to Manitowoc WI that summer when Art became assistant pastor at First Lutheran Church. They moved to Chicago for further education for 2 years. They then returned to the upper Midwest, moving first to West Fargo, then Fargo where they raised their four children.

As her children grew, she returned to nursing, first in the newborn nursery at St. Lukes, moving eventually to the newly opened Intensive Care Nursery. She then joined the educational staff of the Fargo UND Family Practice Residency, until she retired in 1986.

She sang in the First Lutheran Choir for 25 years, traveling with them to Norway, and was a member of the local fine arts community. She and her husband moved to Otter Tail Lake in 1996 to the family cottage. She lived at Golden Living Nursing Home, Battle Lake from 1997 until 2012 when she moved home. They were active members of Zion Lutheran Church in Amor, and Trefoldighed Lutheran, rural Battle Lake.

A joyful parent and delighted grandparent, they have four children, Siri (Tom) Fiebiger, Fargo, Kari (Rory) Eidsness, Fargo, Daniel (Milou Francel), Minneapolis and Stephen (Shannon), Ashland OR and seven grandchildren, Rolf (Elsa) Fiebiger, St Paul, Erik Fiebiger, New York City, Erin Eidsness, Superior CO, Alyssa Eidsness, Fargo, Anica Francel, Minneapolis, Hayley Johnson and Hannah Johnson, Ashland OR; and one great granddaughter Eva Fiebiger, St Paul. She's also survived by her sister Hope (Harry) Eilers, Sarasota Springs FL, and Richard (Sandra) Jacobson, St George UT.

She's preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to area hospices (Red River Valley or Fergus Falls), or to Promise for Haiti (www.promiseforhaiti.org).

Visitation will be Friday, July 19 from 5 to 7 pm, with Prayer Service to follow at 7 at Zion Lutheran Church, Amor MN.

Memorial Services will be Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 1 pm at Zion Lutheran Church, Amor.

She will be interred at Trefoldighed Cemetery, Battle Lake MN.
