Dr. Richard Sheils

Richard George Sheils, 81, formerly of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, April 4, 2017, in Folsom, California.
Richard was born on June 1, 1935, to Chester and Vivian (Johnson) Sheils in Minneapolis, MN. He was baptized at St. Stephen Episcopal Church in Edina, MN. Following graduation from Edina High School, Richard attended the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. In 1957, he married Gloria Holten at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, MN.
In 1960 upon graduating from the University of Minnesota Dental School, Richard served two years in the United States Navy Dental Corp; Naval Station Great Lakes located near Chicago, Illinois. Richard then practiced dentistry in Fergus Falls, Minnesota; Roseville and Granite Bay, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Vivian Sheils; and sisters, Jean Voigt and Janice Dostaler.
Richard is survived by his wife, Guixia Wang; his sons, Mark Sheils of Fargo, ND, Paul (Sarah) Sheils of Ramsey, MN, Rick (Suzette) Sheils of Fergus Falls, MN; daughter, Susanne (Bob) Ronning of Fergus Falls, MN; step-son, Zhi Li of Los Angeles, California; grandsons, Finn and Bjorn Sheils and Corey, Benjamin, and Nate Ronning; and a sister, Kathy (Bill) Archer of Plano, Texas.
Memorial Services will be held in Folsom, California, with a Private Family Graveside Service at Riverside Cemetery in Fargo, ND, at a later date.
