Dorothy Neitzert, a beloved mother and devoted friend, passed away on September 7, 2023, at the age of 85, at St. Williams Living Center in Parker Prairie, MN.

 

Born on December 9, 1937, in Huron, South Dakota, Dorothy's life was marked by a deep commitment to family. Throughout her life, Dorothy nurtured her family, instilling in them the values of love, compassion, and perseverance.

 

Dorothy's life was filled with diverse experiences and enriching endeavors. She embarked on many adventures as she embraced different roles and lived in various places. While in San Diego, California, Dorothy stood by her husband Fredrick as he served in the military. In Perham, Minnesota, she fearlessly embraced the challenges of working as a dairy farmer and a dedicated caregiver in a daycare. Her courage and determination shone through as she moved to Detroit Lakes, Minnesota in 1989, where she worked in different roles, including at Burger Time, a pottery shop, and an auction company.

 

In 2004, Dorothy settled in Parkers Prairie, where she devoted her time and energy to her employment at Parkers Prairie Elementary School. Her warmth and joyful presence brightened the lives of students and colleagues alike. Dorothy's kind and compassionate nature made her a beloved member of the community, leaving a deep impact on those she encountered.

 

Dorothy found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She possessed a talent for crafts, nurturing beautiful gardens, and sewing. Her love extended to her canine companions, who brought her immeasurable happiness and companionship. Dorothy's adventurous spirit led her on magical journeys, creating cherished memories throughout her travels with Fredrick and her children.

 

Dorothy was a member of Immanuel Lutheran in Parkers Prairie, where she found solace, community, and a deep connection to her faith. Dorothy Neitzert will forever remain in our hearts, continuing to inspire us with her love, compassion, and unwavering spirit. May she rest in eternal peace.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fredrick Neitzert; daughters, Laura Neitzert and Debbie Spears; son, Kyle Neitzert; siblings, Donald Johnson, Ila Schmitz, Betty Schultz, Robert Johnson and Shirley Neitzert; and grandsons, Cory and Phil.

 

Dorothy is survived by her children, Darby (Lanette) Neitzert of Richville, MN, Jeanie (William) Schalow and Mike Neitzert of Parkers Priaire, MN; five grandchildren, Kurt (Holly), Marlana (Scott), Madison, Miami and Jaqui; six great grandchildren, along with numerous family and friends.

 

Memorial Service: 11 a.m., Friday, September 15, 2023, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie, with a visitation one hour prior.

 

Clergy: Rev. Kirk Lee

 

Interment: St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Perham, MN

 

Funeral arrangements are with the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home of Evansville.
