Doris "Daisy" Hauger

February 15, 1925 — June 27, 2019

Fergus Falls

Doris “Daisy” Hauger, 94 of Fergus Falls died Thursday, June 27, 2019, at Sanford Health in Fargo, North Dakota.

Doris Ann Kathryn Hauger was born on February 15, 1925, in Parkers Prairie, Minnesota, the daughter of Henry and Marie (Hink) Kalpin.  She attended the Parkers Prairie Public School through the tenth grade where she was a drummer with the marching band.

Doris Ann married Gordon Millard Hauger on July 28, 1952, in the Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria, Minnesota.  They lived in different locations, then settled in Fergus Falls in 1970.  She was a homemaker who raised her children and kept them going through tough times, in particular when Gordon was seriously injured in a work accident.  She had a playful sense of humor and was a remarkably strong and faithful mother and caregiver to more than just her children. Through the years, she worked with Northwestern Bell Telephone as an operator, Osterberg’s Café, Parkers Prairie Hospital, and in dietary services with the Fergus Falls Public School.  She enjoyed watching birds at the feeder, cooking, dancing, designing homemade birthday cards, crafting, making stuffed animals, dolls, and clothes for the grandkids, dressing up for Halloween, singing "Happy Birthday" in funny voices and she also took karate lessons.  Doris Ann was a proud Christian and loved Jesus.  She was a member of Destiny Church of Ashby and at the age of 64 she was born again at then the Country Bible Church.  Doris Ann guided her ship and her crew through calm waters and stormy seas and is now safely at harbor.

She is survived by her seven children, Terry of Fargo, Craig of Fargo, Daniel (Jane) of Granite Falls, Kathy (Mike) Baker of St. Cloud, Joan Vanderlinden of Fergus Falls, Kim of Fargo and Judy of Fergus Falls; eight grandchildren and families, Trina (Jason), Ella, Jeremiah, and River; Mindy (Trevor), Faith, Justin, Eva, and Henry; Joe (Elaine), Luke, Rachel, and baby boy due in August; Belinda (Scott) and Zeke; Peter (Brooke) and Jack; Sam (Jess); Annie (Matt) and baby boy due in August; and Holli Hauger.  She is also survived by brother, Curtis (Linda) Kalpin of Osakis, sister, LaVonne Cassell of Alexandria, and by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  Doris Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon on March 26, 1990; parents, Henry and Marie Kalpin; two sisters, Iona Wunderlich and Verdeen Engstrand; and by an infant brother, Mervin Henry Kalpin.
