Donna L. Herrick, 74, of Fergus Falls died Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the Broen Home.
She was born March 4, 1942 in Doris, OR to Curtis and Helen (Williamson) Byrd. She grew up and received her education in Klamath Falls, OR. After graduation, she worked as a secretary at the Chamber of Commerce in Klamath Falls. It was here that she met her future husband, Gary Herrick. They were united in marriage in April of 1967 in St. Paul, MN. The couple moved to Glenwood, MN where their first child, Brenna, was born. In June of 1968, the family moved to Chico, CA to care for Donna's mother. Soon after, their son, Bruce and second daughter, Heather were born. Gary and Donna moved to Minnesota in 1994 and their three children soon relocated to Minnesota as well. Donna was a wonderful, loving, fulltime mom. Not only did she love her own three children, but considered Bruce's dear friend, Tom Knox, as an adopted son. Gary passed away on July 26, 2009.
Donna had a strong and unwavering faith. She loved to watch and feed birds and loved baking and caring for her family. She was also an avid book reader, movie watcher, music listener and talented artist. She especially loved to spend time with her grandchildren. Her children considered her to be the "silent backbone" of the family.
Donna is survived by her three children: Brenna Herrick of Bozeman, MT, Bruce Herrick of Blaine, MN and Heather (Todd) Walvatne of Fergus Falls; 14 grandchildren and one brother, Stan (Eva) Byrd of Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Gary.
