Donald Carl Meyer was born on November 14, 1932, in Wrights Hospital in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the son of Carl and Esther (Currie) Meyer. He grew up by Wall Lake in Dane Prairie Township. He graduated from Crookston Ag School in 1950. Don was drafted into the US Army in 1953, and served his country for two years.  After his discharge he returned home to farm with his parents.

Don married Sally Ann Mero from Hancock, on June 1, 1957, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Morris.   Don and Sally were blessed with five wonderful children. He farmed in Tordenskjold Township in rural Underwood. He dairy farmed milking Brown Swiss cattle, then later raised Angus beef cattle, along with raising grain and hay.  In 1997, Don and Sally sold their farm and purchased their present home on Deer Lake. Don enjoyed being outdoors in the woods cutting up firewood, which he continued in retirement and was splitting wood November 13th a day before he went into the hospital. He especially enjoyed raising his animals and farming.  Don loved chocolate and the Corner Store chocolate chip cookies. He entered transition in Perham on his 91st birthday.  He was extremely happy with the place and care he received, and never considered transferring to anywhere else.  Don loved his family and will be missed.

He is survived by his wife Sally; sons Daniel (Carole) of St. Louis, MO, Terry of rural Erhard and Steven of Doran; daughter, Tamara (Tom) Batson of McCormick, South Carolina; and by nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and many other family and friends.
