Donald Hendrickson

Donald Hendrickson, 85, of Evansville died Sunday, October 15, 2017 at Brandon Assisted Living.

Donald Carl John Hendrickson was born on the farm in Millerville Township to Helmer and Ebba (Carlson) Hendrickson on January 12, 1932.  He was baptized and confirmed at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Evansville and later became a member of Faith Lutheran Church.  Donnie attended 8 years of schooling in Millerville Township.  He worked on the farm until he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Korea.  He was also a member of the National Guard.  After he was discharged, he farmed first with dairy cattle and later beef cattle.  He was employed by the Evansville Creamery as a milk truck driver and later for the Fergus Dairy and helped neighbors out with baling hay and fall crop work.  He enjoyed his cats and his dog, Nickalena, who was at the care center with Donnie and family when he passed away.

Donnie is survived by his brother, Ardell (Mavis) Hendrickson of Evansville; two sisters: Joan (Wendell) Englund of Evansville and Mary Jane (Carmen) Paulson of Johnson City, Tennessee; ten nephews and one niece who will serve as casketbearers; two cousins: Mrs. Marian Dahlgren of Vergas and Robert (Donna) Carlson of Fargo, ND; several great nieces and nephews and by his special neighbors, Tony and Jenny Kokett and their children, Megan, Katie and Kristi – who considered Donnie as their grandpa.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Bernie, a sister, Lorraine and a brother-in-law, Harry Retting.

Visitation: Tuesday, October 17, 2017 from 5 to 7 P.M. at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Evansville and resuming for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Service: Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at Faith Lutheran Church in Evansville

Burial: Mound Grove Cemetery in Evansville
