Donald Anderson

Donald Juel Anderson, 68, of Fergus Falls, died Saturday, April 13, 2019, at his residence, under the care of his family and LB Hospice.

Don was born on July 29, 1950 in Fergus Falls, MN, the son of Arvid and Katherine (Johnson) Anderson. He attended Fergus Falls High School and at the age of 17, enlisted in the United States Army.  Don was stationed in Germany and later honorably discharged in 1970.

On June 4, 2004, Don married Nancy (Woyak) Waldorf in Sisseton, South Dakota.

He was very passionate about his truck driving years, was very business oriented, and innovative.  Don started his own business in waste management and later started Coatings Unlimited with his brother Jeff.  The last several years, he worked as a sales rep for Vortex Spray-on-Systems.

Don was a member of Stavanger Lutheran Church, where he also played on the softball team.  For family gatherings, he often organized kids’ games and loved playing cards.  Don was an excellent woodworker and was very mechanically inclined as well.  A truly caring individual, Don exhibited great compassion for those less fortunate than him.  Don’s greatest joy was time spent with his grandsons, Trevor and Carter Anderson, and he was extremely proud of all they had accomplished.

Don is survived by his wife, Nancy of Fergus Falls; son, Jayson (Tina) Anderson of Coon Rapids, MN; grandsons, Trevor and Carter; mother, Kay Haugen of Fergus Falls; sisters, Darlene (Rick) Dockter of Fergus Falls, Ruth Johansen of Ashby, Dale (Carl) Schorr of Fergus Falls, Sandi Lee of Illinois, Debi Anderson of Fergus Falls, Marla (Iver) Henjum of Fergus Falls, and Jodi Fyhrie of Elizabeth; brother, Jeff (Rachel) Anderson of Erhard; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his father, Arvid; step-father, Morris Haugen; and brother, Bryan Anderson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Lake Region Cancer Center.

Visitation: 5 - 7 PM Friday, with a 6:30 PM Prayer Service, at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls, and one hour prior to services at the church.

Memorial Service: 2 PM Saturday, April 20, 2019, at Stavanger Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls

Interment: Stavanger Lutheran Cemetery
