D.L. Braun

D.L. “Knute” Braun, age 88, of Fergus Falls , died Monday, February 14, 2011, at his home.

Knute Braun was born April 27, 1922 in Friberg Township to Joseph J. and Theresa Marie (Bauman) Braun. He was baptized November 30, 1922 in Tonseth Lutheran Church . Knute received his education at District 187 in Friberg Township .

He served with the Air Force during World War II from November 3, 1942 to February 26, 1946. Knute was an aircraft mechanic and served stateside in California , Texas and Georgia . He returned to Fergus Falls and worked for Mertz Potato Company and Bjone Minnow Service. He married Eldora Sorensen July 12, 1974. Knute was and avid fisherman and hunter, He enjoyed watching NASCAR. They enjoyed traveling especially to Alaska , Hawaii and the East and West Coasts .

Knute is survived by his wife, Eldora; step-children, Terry (Laura) Grant of Maui, HI, Jackie (Dante II) Grandi of Duluth and Jennifer (Larry) Sillanpa of Duluth; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Irene Bjone; sister-in-law, Rose Braun; special nephews, Joe (Kay) Braun and Paul (Dawn) Nelson, many nieces and nephews and great and great-great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roy J. Braun and Orville V. Braun; brother-in-law, Melvin R. Bjone, and step-son, Steven Grant
