David Randall

Jul 25, 1961 — Jul 4, 2026

David Lawrence Randall, age 64, of Fergus Falls, passed away suddenly on July 4, 2026.  There will be a memorial service in his honor at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls.  There will be a visitation one hour prior.

He was born on July 25, 1961, in Alexandria, Minnesota, to Milton and Marie (Herzog) Randall. He grew up in Fergus Falls, MN and graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1980. He later attended and graduated from Brown Institute in Minneapolis. David built a life defined by his intellect, his craftsmanship, and his deep love for his family and the outdoors.

David married Michelle (Jorgenson), and together they raised four children: Melissa, Eric, Michael, and Benjamin.

David had a remarkable mind and built an impressive career as an electrician and lead systems programmer. Working for ConAgra Lamb Weston RDO in Park Rapids, he was the primary programmer responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining the plants' Programmable Logic Controller systems. He was the brilliant, solitary mind designing the systems and designing the programming that ran their complex water systems and entire industrial operations.

Beyond his career, David was a master craftsman who could build or fix anything. He constructed the addition on the family’s home in Park Rapids with the help of friends and family. His woodworking skills also produced beautiful custom chess sets, gun cabinets, and phone holders.

David’s greatest joy was found in the outdoors and being with his family. Growing up, and later with his own boys, he spent his fall seasons hunting ducks, grouse, and deer out by Orwell dam. His summer and winter months were spent fishing on Fishhook, Potato, and Mantrap Lake. His children will always remember begging him to take them to "the point," to go swimming, the unspoken rule of having to move out of his specific chair when he walked in the room, and coming home to hear him say he had a good pot roast or grouse waiting in the crockpot.

Even as health challenges shifted his life in his later years, his unwavering love for his family remained his anchor. Later on, he cherished family road trips to Glacier, Yellowstone, Mount Rushmore, and most recently, Lutsen. At home, David was the "waterer and leader" of the family garden, a grill master in the backyard, and a devoted Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan. He was always researching and learning, possessing a mind that explored the universe's complexities. He was intelligent, occasionally oblivious, and deeply loved.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Michelle; his children, Melissa, Eric (Brianna), Michael, and Ben (Lisa); his cherished granddaughters, Lexi and Lucy; his siblings, Greg (Paula), Theresa, and Tom (Liz); sister-in-law Sharon; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Mark and Jon; his sister, Marsha; and sister-in-law, Lori.
